Environmental Awareness and Creative Transformation in the Earthwise Youth Project

The Earthwise Youth project (2025-1-ES02-KA152-YOU-000297448), coordinated by Asociación PAFF and held in Córdoba, Spain, between 17–24 October 2025, brought together young people to explore sustainability, recycling, and environmental awareness. The youth exchange gathered participants from Spain, Hungary, Türkiye, Lithuania, and Romania, creating a dynamic environment for intercultural learning, active citizenship, and environmental action.

During this phase of the project, participants gained valuable knowledge about the environmental impact of batteries and electronic waste, recycling processes, and responsible waste management practices. Through interactive workshops and discussions, young people explored the growing challenge of electronic waste and learned how recycling contributes to both environmental protection and sustainable economic development. These activities encouraged participants to adopt more conscious consumption habits and environmentally responsible lifestyles.

Collaborative group work and idea-generation sessions enabled participants to analyze the root causes of environmental problems and develop practical solutions. Working in international teams, they exchanged perspectives, strengthened their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and explored innovative approaches to addressing environmental challenges. The activities demonstrated how cooperation and creativity can contribute to building more sustainable communities.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the project was the combination of art and recycling. Participants created artistic works using various recycled materials, discovering how creative expression can be used as a powerful tool for raising environmental awareness. These activities highlighted the value of reusing resources while encouraging young people to communicate sustainability messages through art. The process also promoted a deeper understanding of circular economy principles and responsible resource management.

The programme further included educational visits and environmental exploration activities in Córdoba, including a visit to the Botanical Garden. These experiences provided participants with the opportunity to observe biodiversity conservation efforts and sustainable environmental practices firsthand. By learning from local examples, young people gained a broader understanding of how institutions, communities, and individuals can work together to protect the environment and promote sustainability.

Intercultural learning activities and reflection sessions also played an important role throughout the project. Participants shared their cultures, exchanged experiences, and reflected on the knowledge and skills they had developed during the exchange. Through Youthpass activities, they were able to recognize and document their learning outcomes, further supporting their personal and professional development.

Overall, the Earthwise Youth project provided participants with meaningful learning experiences in environmental awareness, sustainable living, creativity, and intercultural dialogue. By empowering young people to become active contributors to a greener future, the project fostered the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to address environmental challenges both locally and internationally.
